What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal works safely, quickly, and effectively to rid you of unwanted hair on nearly any part of the face and body. This non-invasive treatment is a more sensible solution then temporary hair removal procedures such as tweezing, waxing, shaving, or chemical depilatories.

How does it work?
This process works by emitting pulses of laser energy into the hair follicles. The pigment in the follicles absorbs this energy, which causes them to become disabled. Once disabled the follicles can no longer produce hair.

How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments required varies, depending on the color of your hair and skin. Approximately 20% of the body hair is in a growing phase at any time. The remainder is dormant and unable to absorb light. Therefore approximately five treatments are generally required for most people, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

How long does a typical session take?
An area of unwanted facial hair may take as little as 5 minutes to treat, while a man’s back or a woman’s leg may take over an hour to complete.

Is hair color important?
In general, the darker the hair, the more effective the treatment. Blond hair may have a limited response and may require pretreatment with a pigment enhancer.

What about skin color?
Our top of the line laser provides contact-cooling before, during and after each laser pulse, for a safe and comfortable treatment on ANY skin color.

What is the treatment like?
As the laser is glided over the skin, a prickly sensation is felt each time a hair follicle is destroyed. Once the follicle is destroyed it will purge the hair that remained under the skin and they will fall out within 7-14 days. Most people notice a 20% reduction after each treatment.

Are there any side effects?
Some parts of the body are more sensitive than others and may redden or swell slightly after treatment. This condition should return to normal within a few hours. In some cases, slight blistering may occur. Ice or Aloe Vera may be applied if these conditions persist.

Which areas can be treated?
The laser can be used to treat nearly any area of the body except directly around the orbital bone.

Is there special care after a treatment?
Most normal activities can be resumed right away although exercise, swimming, shaving and make-up should be avoided immediately after treatments to prevent any irritation. An SPF 30 or higher should be worn during sun exposure to the treated area. And in rare cases if a blister occurs, normal first aid should be applied.

What is a chemical peel?
Chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient's needs.

How does it work?
Glycolic acids decrease the "glue" that holds dead cells on the surface of the skin. This allows some dead cells to drop away, leaving behind a layer of smoother, softer skin. Glycolic acid also stimulates the skin to make new collagen fibers that help to improve wrinkling and the effects of sun damage. In addition, glycolic acids help to dissolve the material that clogs pores allowing the pore to drain better thus decreasing the tendency for acne lesions to form.

How many treatments are needed?
Depending on the patient’s needs and expectations, several treatments may be necessary until the desired effects are achieved. Generally six sessions are required for most skin conditions.

What is the treatment like?
After the skin is properly cleansed, the correct peeling agent then is applied for the appropriate amount of time. Then, the peeled area is neutralized, rinsed off and a topical hydrocortisone cream is applied.

Is there any special care before treatment?
If you are using Retin-A products and want to receive a chemical peel treatment, you would need to stop the Retin-A at least three-weeks before using the Peels. Retin-A makes the skin very sensitive to the sun and to other products.

Is there any special care after treatments?
Temporary redness, flaking and dryness that you experience will not prevent you from working or engaging in your normal activities. Remember, protecting your skin from the sun with at least an SPF 30 following these peels. You are given proper instructions on how to tend to the skin after the treatment as well.

How soon can I expect to see results?
Improvements from peels may be subtle at first. You may detect a healthier glow to your skin. With continued treatments, you will notice a general improvement in the texture of your skin.
